He angitūtanga: About the Role

We're seeking two Senior Advisors to join our Learner & Investment Outcomes team.

We have two fixed-term opportunities available, one through to June 2027 and one through to August 2027. The specific end date will be discussed and confirmed at offer stage, based on organisational requirements and the skills and experience of the successful candidates.

As a Senior Advisor, you will help shape and deliver strategic advice that supports TEC's investment decisions and learner outcomes. Working across the Learner & Investment Outcomes function, you will contribute to the development of strategy, provide high-quality analysis and insights, and support the design and implementation of policy and operational solutions.

You will work on complex and sometimes ambiguous problems, drawing on data, evidence, and stakeholder perspectives to develop practical, customer-focused advice. This is an opportunity to influence system-level outcomes and contribute to improving equity and performance across the tertiary education system.

 

He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for:

We are looking for a strong analytical thinker and communicator who can operate confidently in a policy and strategy environment. You will bring:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to gather, assess and synthesise information into clear insights and recommendations,
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and high-quality advice, including briefings and policy documents,
  • Experience in policy, strategy, or advisory roles,
  • The ability to work through ambiguity and complexity, developing practical and implementable solutions to real-world problems,
  • A collaborative approach and strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across a range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of public policy processes and the machinery of government in the New Zealand context,
  • Curiosity, sound judgement, and a proactive problem-solving mindset, with a genuine interest in improving learner outcomes.

Remuneration

  • The recruitment range for this position is $100,000 to $109,797 + 3.5% KiwiSaver, depending on demonstrable skills and experience (appointments will be made based on the skills you bring to the role)
