He angitūtanga: About the Role

We're on the hunt for a talented Senior Designer to join our Design team and help us shape the future of products that will make a positive difference in the lives of New Zealanders. You will collaborate closely with product owners, developers, researchers, marketing and the content team to bring insights together to create a real impact.

  • Requires an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of end-to-end UX and UI Design.
  • Work closely with TEC stakeholders, internal research, stakeholder engagement and development teams to create high quality experiences and outputs.
  • Using design thinking to come up with concepts and solutions to meet the needs of diverse target audience with a variety of needs.
  • Champion inclusive and equitable design, learner centricity and the power of human-centred, insight-driven design.
  • Craft wireframes, prototypes, and detailed designs for a variety of media including web, mobile apps and print collateral.
  • Work with web development and content team members to ensure designs can be realised.
  • Translate customer insights, analytics and executive direction into well thought out experiences.
  • Maintain and update the Figma pattern libraries

 

He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for:

If you are an experienced Designer with a passion for equity and delivering quality work that positively impacts on almost all New Zealanders - this could be the role for you! You will bring the following:

  • At least five years' experience in UX/UI design for responsive websites and digital products.
  • Significant experience in using design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience using and contributing to a large complex Figma pattern library.
  • A passion for equity and inclusion, a strong belief in designing for needs, and a drive to make a difference.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering high-quality design outputs for the different stages of the design process, including wireframes, prototypes and detailed UI designs.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Understanding of user experience design principles and what good customer-centric design looks like.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with your team, TEC stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills to bring others on the design journey.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive web design.
  • Ability to create icons and illustrations is preferred, but not essential.

The salary range for this position starts from $93,327 up to $109,797 + 3.5% KiwiSaver depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
